Monitoring for sustainability and quality
We understand the environment in which we are operating and have a state-of-the-art water monitoring system in place.
We have state-of-the-art surface water and groundwater monitoring systems, which we started rolling out in 1999. Since then, we have expanded our monitoring network to include further surface water monitoring locations, as well as groundwater quality and groundwater pressure monitoring bores across multiple aquifers within our Roma, Fairview and Arcadia Valley gas fields.
Our groundwater monitoring system is extensive and equipment is typically installed to several depths inclusive of the coal seams, any important overlying or underlying aquifers, and all of the permeable formations in between.
Our groundwater monitoring network also includes a number of private water supply bores where we have agreements with landholders. The recorded bore water level is made available to the landholder who can be view incoming live data via a secure web application.
Our monitoring programs will continue to expand in accordance with development plans and regulatory requirements.
As part of our water management strategy, we also monitor the performance of our water reuse projects. Monitoring allows us to measure the long term sustainability and performance of our water projects.
